Your PRUK correspondent was feeling poorly on the second day of Rebellion which was absolutely due to food poisoning and not the copious volumes of alcohol that went through it's system. Despite this a few bands were seen before it took its pathetic body to bed....
South Korea's Rumkicks were like a roundhouse kick to the face for those up early in the Empress. Uncompromising, brutal yet having choruses that The Ramones would be proud of. An absolute pleasure to watch.
Broken 3 Ways have a lot of hype and there is a reason why. Their brand of ska punk stands up with the likes of Random Hand, Popes of Chillitown and The Guillotines. A hard working band who deserve all the plaudits they are currently getting and the next album may get them on some major tours.
As poorly as PRUK was feeling, there was one band that had to be seen before it took its sad arse to bed - Citizen Fish. Of all the Dick Lucas bands, Citizen Fish are probably the most underrated. As political as Subhumans or Culture Shock but more skankable, Citizen Fish are the danceable version of Subhumans and all the better for it. A set that was both thought provoking and a joy. There are few better ways to end a day when you are "under the weather".
